Behind the name:

There’s nothing special behind the name really. I actually wanted to call it chibineko.com, but unfortunately it has already been taken. I insisted on having the word ‘neko’ in it so I decided to call my website Nekonette. I don’t know what it means though, probably nothing.

About the website

When I first bought Nekonette, I really didn’t know what to do with it. I’ve already had a blog at chibiholic.net (now closed down) so I thought I would use nekonette.com as my graphic portfolio but somehow, in the process of building up the site, I ended up making it as a blog instead. Thus I quickly transformed the site to be my personal website which contains my blog and a couple of web articles. Over the time, I keep making modifications and adding in stuff into Nekonette to eventually become what it is today.

  • Site Name & Layout
Your site name is cute easy to remember and suits the extension chosen for it. Your layout is cute, I love the image used for it and even though there’s a lot of brushes, they all blend in really well so it doesn’t look over-brushed :) The only thing is at the ends of the images it finishes sharply (see the near the circles) try making it more smoothly..

    Coding and browser compatibility
I’ve checked your browser on 3 browsers: IE, Firefox and Safari. Your site looks alright in 2 browsers but on IE, your background image is a light colour and the outside the image is another darker colour; apart from that everything is perfectly fine :) I’ve also noticed that on smaller resolutions a horizontal scrollbar appears.. To make your layout the same in all resolutions I suggest following this fiasco’s container tutorial it’s really easy and it helps you get rid of annoying horizontal scrollbars :)

    Content
You haven’t got any visitor content so I’ll just review all your ‘navi’ pages :) On your domain page everything looks alright and it’s good that you decided to add credits, at the end on the brushes credits you should add a link to people to contact you in case it’s theirs..
I appreciate the fact that you host others but try shortening the rules a bit, it may come across as too demanding. Your ask me page is very helpful and a good sign of friendly-ness (:

    Conclusion/Other
Your site is great! You’ve got cute designs, and your talented with your stylesheets (most of the time you can’t have millions of colours in one stylesheet but with yours they go along great!), you just have the common mistakes but as soon as you fix them your site will boost up like a star! <33

Site Rating: 4 out of 5

  • Nekonette is a personal hub filled with tutorials, web articles, and blog posts from Kitty. One of my favourite aspects of Kittys website is her blog posts – always well thought out, well written, and posted regularily. There is a lovely mix of deep, serious blog posts as well as refreshing anecdotes about her day to day life. There are many high quality tutorials available, ranging from CSS tutorials to WordPress tutorials to a tutorial on how to create a custom 404 page. You also have the option to ask Kitty questions – about herself, about her website, and she will respond to what you ask. I like this implemented within a personal website, as I feel it shows a real honestly and openness towards the people who frequent her site. Kitty opens up her life and her heart to us, and really, what more could you ask for from a personal website?
