Awakened

I never thought I’d blog about this but until today I never realised that I am actually living in a world full of ignorant people. I’m not referring to people ignorant of things like which spoon is used for soup or which eating utensil goes with which hand, but I am referring to an infamous maritime disaster. Yes, you guess it right. I am actually referring to the RMS Titanic which sank exactly a 100 years ago.

So what’s the issue? Apparently there are many people who do not…did not know that the sinking of the ship was a real event. They thought it was just another Hollywood movie. My heart skipped a beat when I read their tweets on Twitter. It’s a bit shocking for me, to learn that adults (I can forgive children) have no idea that this thing is real. Have you not read books? Read articles on the internet? Or even watch the countless documentaries on the television? Amazing how people still miss this information.

Anyway, let’s move on to about me. So what’s new in my life? I have a job now and I’ve started working last week. I work from Wednesday to Sunday, with Mondays and Tuesdays as my off-days. In case you haven’t heard, I’m now working as a tutor at one of the private tuition schools. I only teach 2 hours per day so it may not sound like a tough job, but the challenge comes in the shape of preparing the materials for the classes. I takes hours to prepare a lesson and that is taxing.

Aside from that, last month I made another trip to Malaysia again (yay!) and I bought a couple of stuff:
(sorry for the quality of the pictures, I had to use my phone’s camera because I left my digicam with my sister)

I was somewhat similarly surprised when I went on a work trip with a colleague. OK, so he did say that he had found school boring and avoided it whenever possible… but it was just so weird him not really knowing things like “what’s is your country’s stance on religion”. He could make jokes about it, how everyone’s indoctrinated and such (which is true)… but didn’t know anything beyond the joke. :o

Ah well, be glad that you had a good education, and are not the one on the tweet list that has been making rounds. ;)

I have heard about those Tweets & I couldn’t bring myself to read them or to even skim read them. How can you not know that it was a real advent & not just a movie. It really baffles me.

Congratulations on your job. It sounds tiring but will be well worth it.

    Those candies look very nice!

Like seriously. Sometimes I wonder what they teach kids in schools these days. I have nothing to say about this whole Titanic Twitter trend because parts of me just wanna point out just how stupid people really are these days, especially these ‘adults’ mentioned. Like did they NOT have relatives from that time period? SMH.

It’s nice to know your job is going well so far :) And nice to see you catching up with folks online as well. I love the shoes you got on your trip :) I’m sure you had lots of fun.

That’s shocking. :( I can’t believe there are people (adults!) who think the Titanic disaster was a mere movie plot! Hundreds of people died, documentaries are shocking enough to make your heart sink, yet they take it as fiction… *sigh*

Glad to hear your job is paying off. Preparing lessons is tough, but I hope you’ll get faster at it with time. :) *hugs*

Missed you a lot! I haven’t been around much except for work— I’m a real freelancer now. :) Well, hopefully I’ll get personal blogging and commenting on my good friends’ blogs fit in my new schedule. Time management can be a hassle sometimes. Ahah!

    *hugs*

I don’t know of any people I see on my Twitter personally that doesn’t know that the Titanic’s a real event.

    But yes, that’s really sad.

I actually didn’t watch Titanic until about a couple of years ago, because my mom actually hates the movie. She hates that they got this tragedy and turned it into a love story when it’s so much more than that.

Congrats on and good luck with your job!

I think I’m going to be in Malaysia for a while later this summer. :)

I’ll admit it – I didn’t know that the Titanic was real before. Or at least, I was balancing in between real and not real. Then I read newspaper articles about artifacts, a ticket at an auction house and all and finally settled on the “Real” part of the balance scale.

Oh, that was a cool shopping trip. So many jars of Sticky! Oh my, I barely get to buy a packet in a few months . . .
